Anxiety CliffsNotes

Updated: Nov 15

this is not medical advice. all my own opinion and experience. consult your doctor - note that this ended up being a long article and is easier to read on desktop

This particular subject I've avoided writing about despite it being the most popular topic I've gotten questions on, mostly because anxiety can stem from so many different things and the only answer I ever have is "it depends". But I decided to finally get some main points down and expand later on things and start pulling the strings on individual reasons and solutions down the road.

I've dealt with anxiety personally on some level for as long as I can remember, becoming debilitating at the worst. After lots of hard work, growth, and honesty, thank God it functions mostly as it should, spiking when there's inconsistencies or potential danger, and fairly quickly returning to baseline.

It's my belief that, as with most physical and mental health issues, the further away from our natural state and environment we get, the worse the problem becomes. It's no wonder that our younger generations are becoming increasingly anxious, highly medicated, and stuck in that vicious cycle. They've grown up indoors, on screens, on processed food, sedentary or rushed, distracted and ignored. Of course this doesn't apply to every household, but the trend is alarming and isn't limited to Gen Z.

With that in mind, I always ask people to look at their life before considering meds. How much sun and fresh air do you get? How much movement? Are you eating real food? Are you consuming the minerals that your body literally needs to function properly? Do you have a community that is positive and pushes you to always be better? Are you safe? Have you adressed the times that you weren't safe? Are you paying attention to your nervous system and trusting your body? Do you have a connection to the Creator?

If the answer to any of that is no, or none, or very little, I'm afraid I've got to tell you that you can try any pill, any herb, any supplement, but until those foundational things are addressed, they will not work to the full potential.

I would like to preface this with my stance on pharmaceutical medication (in this case SSRI's). I believe in some cases they really are needed, but at best they are band-aids manufactured to use short-term, and at worst they cause more problems than there ever was to begin with. Doctors are taught when and how to prescribe them (i.e. often), but not how to help their patients wean off and function healthily and fully and healed. So thankful that they are available, but the body, mind, and soul heals when given the chance and tools. Suppression of bad emotions also suppresses the good and the healing.

I got off track. This was supposed to be short. I'll list naturally derived supplements that I would personally reach for before meds, including the basics that help fill gaps in diet. Please reach out if you'd like any input on what might fit a situation best! There's a lot of options.

I had ChatGPT round up some more info on inositol's effects on anxiety for a little more context!

Inositol for Anxiety: The Deep Dive

Inositol (specifically myo-inositol and D-chiro inositol) is a vitamin-like compound sometimes grouped with the B-vitamins. It plays a major role in neurotransmitter signaling, which is why it impacts anxiety, OCD, panic, and mood regulation.

🧠 1. How Inositol Works in the Brain

✔️ 1. Regulates serotonin signaling

Inositol is required for the “messenger system” that helps serotonin communicate between cells.Low inositol levels have been found in:

  • brains of people with depression

  • cerebrospinal fluid of people with anxiety

  • people with panic disorder

By restoring that signaling, inositol can improve:

  • worry

  • intrusive thoughts

  • panic

  • “wired but tired” stress

  • rumination

This is why it’s sometimes called a natural SSRI-adjacent supplement — it affects the same pathways, but upstream.

✔️ 2. Calms over-firing glutamate pathways

Glutamate = the brain’s main excitatory (“gas pedal”) chemical. When high, it causes:

  • restlessness

  • physical tension

  • racing thoughts

  • feeling “amplified” or on edge

Inositol helps modulate glutamate signaling, aiding calm.

✔️ 3. Balances blood sugar (a big one for anxiety)

Many people experience “anxiety” symptoms actually driven by:

  • blood sugar drops

  • cortisol spikes

  • adrenaline surges

Inositol improves insulin sensitivity → fewer crashes → fewer adrenaline-type anxiety episodes.

(Especially helpful for women with hormonal fluctuations or postpartum.)

✔️ 4. Helps regulate cortisol + the stress response

Inositol supports the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, leading to:

  • smoother cortisol curves

  • fewer late-night spikes

  • easier emotional regulation

Many people report a more “steady” feeling within weeks.

✔️ 5. Supports GABA, the brain’s main calming chemical

Inositol increases conversion of glutamate → GABA, which creates:

  • improved relaxation

  • easier sleep

  • less physical tension

It’s not sedating; it’s stabilizing.

🎯 2. Who Inositol Helps MOST With Anxiety

Research shows strongest benefits in:

🌸 1. Panic disorder

Some studies show inositol is equal to — or even more effective than — SSRIs for panic attacks, without the side effects.

💭 2. OCD + intrusive thoughts

Higher doses (12–18g/day) showed significant improvements in:

  • compulsive thinking

  • rumination

  • stuck thinking patterns

This is because OCD is heavily driven by altered serotonin signaling, where inositol is active.

😬 3. Generalized anxiety (GAD)

Inositol helps calm:

  • chronic worry

  • looping thoughts

  • stress-related stomach issues

  • irritability

❤️‍🔥 4. Hormonal anxiety (PMS, PMDD, postpartum, PCOS)

Because inositol deeply affects insulin + hormone signaling, it helps:

  • irritability

  • mood swings

  • anxiety spikes tied to cycles

  • postpartum mood shifts

🍬 5. Blood sugar-related anxiety

If anxiety is worse:

  • after not eating

  • after sugar

  • late afternoon

  • at night

Inositol can be extremely helpful.

⚖️ 3. What Inositol Does Not Do

It’s not:

  • a sedative

  • a numbing agent

  • instantly calming like L-theanine or magnesium

Instead, it works on the root systems of anxiety — serotonin, blood sugar, and stress signaling.

💊 4. Dosage Overview

For general anxiety:

2–4 grams/day divided into 1–2 doses

For panic disorder:

12–18 grams/day (clinical research dose)Most people do well around 6–12g.

For intrusive thoughts or OCD:

12–18g/day

For hormonal or blood-sugar anxiety:

2g morning + 2g evening

Powder form works best. It tastes mildly sweet and dissolves easily.

5. How Long It Takes to Work

  • Some people feel more even-keeled within 3–5 days

  • Most feel full benefit in 2–4 weeks

  • OCD/panic doses can take 4–8 weeks

🧪 6. Research Summary (Simple)

Studies show inositol:

  • decreases frequency of panic attacks

  • decreases severity of anxiety symptoms

  • improves serotonin signaling similar to SSRIs

  • reduces intrusive thoughts and compulsions

  • regulates hormones + insulin (helpful for women’s anxiety)

  • has very low side-effect risk

Side effects are rare and usually mild (gas, loose stools at high doses).

🌱 7. Who Should Be Cautious

  • People with bipolar disorder (may increase cycling if used incorrectly)

  • People on SSRIs/SNRIs → generally safe, but doses may need adjustment

  • People with very low blood sugar — monitor how you feel

8. “What Does It Feel Like?” (User descriptions)

Most describe:

  • “calmer without feeling tired”

  • “less chaotic internal dialogue”

  • “less reactivity”

  • “panic attacks stopped happening as often”

  • “I feel more emotionally steady”

  • “I don’t get overstimulated as quickly”

It’s subtle but steadying — not numbing.

More info on Orchex

🌿 ORCHEX — In-Depth Overview for Anxiety & Nervous System Support

Orchex is a whole-food–based supplement from Standard Process formulated to promote emotional balance, calm, and adaptive stress response. It’s often used by:

  • chiropractors

  • holistic practitioners

  • moms dealing with stress regulation

  • people experiencing overstimulation, irritability, or “wired-tired” states

It is gentle, non-sedating, and works primarily on the adrenal–sympathetic axis, giving the body biochemical tools to shift out of fight-or-flight.

🧠 1. How Orchex Helps Anxiety (Mechanisms)

Orchex affects several core systems that drive anxiety:

✔️ 1. Supports the adrenal glands

The formula includes orchic extract (bovine glandular).Glandulars provide:

  • amino acids

  • peptides

  • cofactorsthat support adrenal hormone regulation.

For anxiety, this means:

  • fewer cortisol spikes

  • less “on edge” feeling

  • improved ability to reset after stress

  • more stable energy vs. roller-coaster surges

This is why many practitioners use Orchex for wired, irritable, or overstimulated clients.

✔️ 2. Nourishes the sympathetic nervous system

It contains sedative-type botanicals and whole-food factors that help down-regulate sympathetic overactivation.

These help with:

  • constant hypervigilance

  • irritability

  • agitation

  • emotional “quick trigger” reactions

  • sensory overstimulation

Orchex is often used for people who feel:

“Everything sets me off”“My body won’t settle”“I’m on edge even when nothing is wrong”

✔️ 3. Enhances GABA & calming neurotransmitters indirectly

The combination of:

  • calming herbs

  • glandulars

  • vitamin B factorshelps shift brain chemistry toward a GABA-dominant state.

This can support:

  • relaxation

  • easier sleep onset

  • reduced muscle tension

  • decreased worry and looping thoughts

Not a sedative → more of a grounding effect.

✔️ 4. Stabilizes mood by supplying whole food B-vitamins

Anxiety has strong ties to:

  • B-vitamin depletion

  • nervous system fragility

  • neurotransmitter dysfunction

Orchex includes nutrient-dense ingredients that supply:

  • B1 (calming, anti-irritability)

  • B6 (serotonin + GABA production)

  • B12 + folate cofactors

These help the nervous system fire correctly without the “frazzled, shocking, buzzing” sensations.

✔️ 5. Helps emotional reactivity

Orchex is commonly described as supporting:

  • emotional steadiness

  • reduced overwhelm

  • better frustration tolerance

  • calmer transitions

  • ability to pause instead of react

Practitioners often call it:

“The supplement that makes you feel like yourself again.”

✔️ 6. Supports sleep without sedation

Many people report:

  • falling asleep easier

  • not waking up wired

  • dreams normalize

  • less nighttime cortisol activity

But the key is: it doesn’t knock you out.It regulates, not sedates.

🌿 2. Who Orchex Helps MOST

Practitioners typically recommend Orchex for:

1. Acute anxiety

Anxiety that spikes from:

  • stress

  • overstimulation

  • arguments

  • emotional events

2. People who are “stressed AND drained”

The classic:

“I’m exhausted but also anxious.”

3. High-sympathetic dominant people

Signs include:

  • jaw clenching

  • fast heart rate

  • shallow breathing

  • irritability

  • sensory overload

  • startles easily

4. Postpartum nervous system dysregulation

Especially where cortisol swings or emotional reactivity are present.

5. Kids or adults with high emotional reactivity

Chiropractors often use it for children with:

  • emotional storms

  • sensory overload

  • trouble self-regulating

(Usually paired with Min-Chex, Cataplex G, or Min-Tran depending on the presentation.)

🌙 3. What You Feel When Taking Orchex

Descriptions people commonly give:

  • “I’m calmer but not sleepy.”

  • “Less overstimulated.”

  • “I have more patience.”

  • “My heart feels quieter.”

  • “My body isn’t in high alert mode.”

  • “I don’t go from 0–100 emotionally anymore.”

It feels like a smoother baseline.

🔍 4. Key Ingredients & Their Roles

(Exact formulas vary slightly by batch, but in general:)

• Orchic Extract

Supports adrenal + gonadal hormone pathways which influence stress response, vitality, and emotional tone.

• Vitamin B complexes (whole food forms)

Improve:

  • neurotransmitter production

  • nervous system calm

  • emotional resilience

• Calcium + Magnesium-rich food concentrates

Promote muscle relaxation + GABA function.

• Camomile, buckwheat, oat flour extracts

Soothing, adaptogenic, and grounding botanicals.

• Proprietary whole-food concentrates

Support HPA axis regulation (hypothalamus → pituitary → adrenals).

🔄 5. How Fast It Works

  • Some feel calmer within 20–60 minutes

  • Others notice changes after 2–4 days of consistent use

  • Full nervous system shifts: 2–4 weeks

🧪 6. How Orchex Compares to Prescription Anti-Anxiety Meds

Orchex vs SSRIs

  • Orchex helps regulate the stress response upstream.

  • SSRIs adjust serotonin signaling downstream.

  • Orchex has calming, stabilizing effects without side effects.

  • Orchex does not cause dependence or withdrawal.

Orchex vs benzodiazepines

  • Benzos sedate the nervous system.

  • Orchex regulates the nervous system.

  • Benzos act fast but impair cognition; Orchex does not.

⚠️ 7. Who Should Be Cautious

  • People on sedatives or sleep meds → may feel too relaxed

  • People with severe adrenal exhaustion → may need to pair it with Drenamin or Cataplex G

  • Pregnant or nursing → check with practitioner (most avoid glandulars during pregnancy)

More info on St. John's Wort

🌿 St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) for Anxiety — In-Depth Overview

St. John’s Wort (SJW) is one of the most well-studied herbal mood supports in the world. It’s primarily known for depression, but it also has very real benefits for anxiety, especially when the anxiety is related to mood, stress, or nervous system imbalance.

Its effects come from active compounds like hypericin and hyperforin, which affect several neurotransmitter systems.

🧠 1. How St. John’s Wort Works for Anxiety (Mechanisms)

St. John’s Wort affects multiple pathways at once — which is why it can help both mood and anxiety.

✔️ 1. Increases serotonin availability

SJW acts as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, similar to SSRIs, but through weaker and more natural mechanisms.

This helps:

  • worry

  • rumination

  • social anxiety

  • emotional heaviness

  • tension that stems from low mood

It does not produce the “flat” feeling some people get from pharmaceutical SSRIs.

✔️ 2. Boosts GABA (your calming neurotransmitter)

Research shows SJW enhances GABA activity in several parts of the brain.

This helps with:

  • physical tension

  • irritability

  • hyperarousal

  • restlessness

  • sleep difficulties tied to anxiety

GABA = the “brake pedal” for an overactive nervous system.

✔️ 3. Regulates glutamate (the “gas pedal” of the brain)

Too much glutamate is linked to:

  • intrusive thoughts

  • panic

  • overstimulation

  • racing mind

St. John’s Wort down-regulates excessive glutamate activity and protects neurons from stress.

✔️ 4. Increases dopamine & norepinephrine gently

This supports:

  • motivation

  • focus

  • energy

  • emotional resilience

This is why many people feel brighter and more stable, not sedated.

✔️ 5. Reduces inflammation in the brain

Chronic anxiety can be driven by neuroinflammation.SJW has potent anti-inflammatory effects, especially in:

  • the hippocampus (memory + emotional regulation)

  • the amygdala (fear center)

This contributes to long-term nervous system balance.

✔️ 6. Helps regulate the HPA axis (stress hormones)

SJW improves communication between:

  • the hypothalamus

  • pituitary

  • adrenal glands

This reduces excessive cortisol spikes and “wired-tired” patterns.

🌼 2. Types of Anxiety St. John’s Wort Helps MOST

1. Anxiety tied to depression or low mood

This is where SJW shines.Especially if symptoms include:

  • heaviness

  • pessimism

  • irritability

  • social withdrawal

  • difficulty enjoying things

2. Generalized anxiety (GAD)

Reduces:

  • constant worrying

  • overthinking

  • physical tension

  • baseline nervousness

3. Stress-induced anxiety

Helps regulate cortisol + stress reactivity.

4. Perimenopause or PMS-related anxiety

Because SJW also influences hormone sensitivity and mood regulation.

5. Postpartum LOW mood + anxiety

Not safe while breastfeeding (due to drug interactions with baby),but can help once fully weaned for mood + nervous system support.

6. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) with anxiety

Especially powerful when combined with:

  • light therapy

  • vitamin D

  • magnesium

  • fish oil

🔍 3. What St. John’s Wort Does Not Help As Much

  • Pure panic disorder (inositol is better)

  • OCD or intrusive thoughts (inositol or saffron often work better)

  • ADHD-type anxiety

  • Bipolar spectrum anxiety (can worsen agitation)

🌙 4. What It Feels Like to Take SJW

Many describe:

  • calm alertness

  • improved emotional resilience

  • less reactivity

  • more patience

  • brighter mood

  • less inner tension

  • better ability to “let things go”

Effects build gradually over 10–21 days.

🌸 5. Dosage & How to Take It

Typical doses used in studies:

  • 300 mg 3x/day (standardized extract 0.3% hypericin)OR

  • 600 mg 2x/day

Most people feel best with:

  • 300–600 mg daily

Liquid tinctures work faster for acute stress.

⚠️ 6. Safety, Contraindications, Interactions

Here’s where SJW requires caution.

🚨 St. John’s Wort interacts with MANY medications

It increases the activity of liver enzymes (CYP3A4), meaning it can reduce the effectiveness of:

  • SSRIs

  • SNRIs

  • Benzodiazepines

  • Birth control pills

  • Immunosuppressants

  • Blood thinners

  • Heart medications

It can also increase serotonin levels, risking serotonin syndrome if mixed with antidepressants.

🚨 Do NOT combine with:

  • SSRIs

  • SNRIs

  • MAOIs

  • Tricyclic antidepressants

  • Tramadol

  • Buspirone

  • MDMA

  • SUMAtriptan / triptans

  • Migraine meds

  • Any hormonal birth control

🚨 Avoid in:

  • Pregnancy

  • Breastfeeding

  • Bipolar disorder

  • People who sunburn easily (photosensitivity risk)

More info on this Supplement

🌿 How This Women’s Foundational Supplement Helps Fill Nutrition Gaps That Contribute to Anxiety

Women experience anxiety differently than men — often tied to:

  • hormone fluctuations

  • nutrient depletion from stress, pregnancy, breastfeeding

  • gut imbalance

  • thyroid function

  • blood sugar changes

  • chronic inflammation

This supplement brings together essential vitamins, calming minerals, gut support, methylated B vitamins, antioxidants, and adaptogenic plant compounds — all of which support the nervous system at the root level.

Think of it as replenishing the body’s raw materials so the brain and hormones can regulate anxiety, instead of being stuck in survival mode.

🌸 1. Methylated B Vitamins for Mood, Hormones & Nervous System Regulation

This formula provides:

  • Methylated folate (L-methylfolate)

  • Methylcobalamin (B12)

  • B6 (pyridoxine)

  • B1, B2, B3, B5

These are essential for:

  • serotonin and dopamine production

  • stable mood

  • stress resilience

  • reducing irritability

  • supporting adrenal glands

  • stabilizing PMS- or cycle-related anxiety

Women frequently run low on these B vitamins due to:

  • hormonal birth control

  • stress

  • pregnancy/postpartum

  • restrictive dieting

Methylated forms are especially important for women with MTHFR variants, who don’t convert folic acid effectively.

This alone can significantly improve:

  • emotional steadiness

  • energy

  • mental clarity

  • overall calm

🌙 2. Stress-Sensitive Minerals That Women Are Commonly Deficient In

✔️ Magnesium bisglycinate

One of the most calming minerals for:

  • muscle tension

  • racing thoughts

  • sleep

  • nervous system overreactivity

Women often burn through magnesium quickly due to stress or caffeine intake.

✔️ Zinc bisglycinate

Zinc affects hormones, thyroid function, and neurotransmitter production. Low zinc is linked to:

  • low mood

  • irritability

  • cycle-related anxiety

✔️ Selenium & iodine (thyroid support)

The thyroid has a huge impact on anxiety. These nutrients help:

  • stabilize thyroid hormones

  • reduce anxiety from low thyroid function

  • support metabolism and energy

✔️ Iron bisglycinate

Women often become depleted from:

  • heavy periods

  • pregnancy

  • postpartum

Low iron = low energy = higher anxiety + irritability.

This formula covers the essential mineral base that many women lack without knowing it.

🧠 3. Choline for Brain Health, Memory, and Stress Tolerance

Choline plays a major role in:

  • neurotransmitter regulation

  • focus

  • cognitive calm

  • healthy estrogen metabolism

  • fetal brain development (if pregnant)

Most women do not get enough choline from food, making this a valuable addition.

🌿 4. Digestive Support for the Gut–Brain Axis

This formula stands out by including a Digestive Comfort Blend:

  • Glutamine (gut lining support)

  • Ginger root (anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory)

  • Asparagus extract (prebiotic)

  • Artichoke extract (bile flow → digestion/hormone clearance)

  • Chamomile (calming herb)

And a probiotic blend with several strains supporting:

  • mood

  • gut balance

  • reduced bloating

  • improved digestion

  • better nutrient absorption

Because 80–90% of serotonin is produced in the gut, supporting digestion can dramatically improve mood and anxiety over time.

🍇 5. Antioxidant & Plant Concentrate Blend (Spectra™)

This part gives women a concentrated boost of:

  • polyphenols

  • antioxidants

  • inflammation-reducing compounds

Low-level inflammation is directly tied to:

  • anxious mood

  • irritability

  • brain fog

  • hormonal imbalance

Ingredients like:

  • elderberry

  • berry concentrates

  • turmeric

  • spinach

  • broccoli sprout

  • oregano

  • açaí

…help stabilize internal stress pathways.

This leads to:

  • calmer baseline mood

  • better hormone balance

  • clearer thinking

  • increased stress tolerance

🌺 6. Vitamins A, C, D, E, K — For Immunity, Hormone Health & Mood

✔️ Vitamin D (375%)

Low vitamin D is one of the strongest nutritional predictors of anxiety, depression, and fatigue.

✔️ Vitamin C + E + A

Help buffer cortisol and reduce oxidative stress — both key drivers of anxiety symptoms.

✔️ Vitamin K

Important for hormone regulation and bone health; especially helpful postpartum or in women with cycle irregularities.

7. Why This Helps Anxiety Specifically

This formula supports anxiety through multiple root mechanisms:

✔️ Provides methylated nutrients your brain needs to make serotonin & dopamine

✔️ Replenishes minerals that calm the nervous system

✔️ Supports thyroid → directly impacts anxiety

✔️ Helps stabilize hormones throughout the cycle

✔️ Improves gut health → improves mood

✔️ Reduces inflammation (a major driver of anxious biology)

✔️ Supports adrenal function

✔️ Helps stabilize energy → reduces panic-y crashes

When nutritional deficiencies are corrected, the nervous system becomes more resilient, less reactive, and easier to calm.

This is why a foundational supplement is so important before adding specialized herbs or remedies.

More info on this Supplement

🧠 1. Nervous System Vitamins That Men Commonly Lack

This formula covers high-potency B vitamins, which are some of the most important nutrients for stress, energy, and mood regulation.

✔️ B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, Folate

These are involved in:

  • serotonin production

  • dopamine production

  • GABA formation

  • adrenal function

  • reducing irritability and low-stress tolerance

Low B-vitamin status = increased:

  • anxiety

  • fatigue

  • stress reactivity

  • emotional volatility

This formula gives clinical-level doses that help restore optimal levels.

💪 2. Zinc, Magnesium, Selenium, Copper — The Stress Mineral Set

Many men are chronically low in magnesium, zinc, and selenium due to:

  • high stress

  • heavy workouts

  • processed food

  • alcohol

  • high cortisol demand

These minerals are essential for:

  • calming the nervous system

  • reducing muscle tension

  • stabilizing mood

  • balancing testosterone levels

  • supporting thyroid health

  • improving sleep

✔️ Magnesium (nervous system regulator)

Reduces physical anxiety, improves sleep, calms the body.

✔️ Zinc (testosterone + neurotransmitters)

Low zinc = more irritability, stress intolerance, and anxiety.

✔️ Selenium (thyroid + mood)

Low levels can worsen anxious, restless, and wired sensations.

✔️ Copper-manganese balance

Helps regulate dopamine and adrenaline pathways.

This set alone can significantly reduce anxious symptoms in men who are depleted.

🌞 3. High-Dose Vitamin C, A, D, and E for Stress & Inflammation

✔️ Vitamin C (300 mg)

Depleted by stress; supports cortisol regulation and adrenal recovery.

✔️ Vitamin D

Directly tied to mood, testosterone, and calm mental state.

✔️ Vitamin A & E

Support immune function and antioxidant pathways — inflammation worsens anxiety.

This gives men a stronger baseline physiology → less reactive nervous system.

🧬 4. Amino Acid Complex to Support Brain Chemistry

The formula includes:

  • L-Tyrosine → dopamine precursor (focus, drive, motivation)

  • L-Taurine → calming, stabilizes glutamate, reduces jitters

  • L-Glutamine → gut/brain support

  • L-Arginine → circulation + stress buffering

  • L-Leucine/Isoleucine/Valine → muscle recovery + stable blood sugar

This supports:

  • emotional steadiness

  • improved mental resilience

  • better reaction to stress

  • reduced anxiety “surges” from blood sugar dips

The amino blend is especially helpful for men who train hard or run on high adrenaline.

🌱 5. Superfood & Antioxidant Complex for Stress Adaptation

Includes:

  • Spirulina

  • Wheatgrass

  • Ginger

  • Garlic

  • Açaí

  • Mangosteen

  • Pomegranate

  • Noni

These ingredients support:

  • reduced oxidative stress

  • improved gut health (huge link to anxiety)

  • immune balance

  • stable inflammation levels

Chronic low-grade inflammation makes anxiety worse. These compounds reduce that burden.

🧔‍♂️ 6. Men’s Hormone Health Complex (Tribulus, Saw Palmetto, Lycopene)

Hormonal instability — especially low testosterone or high stress hormones — significantly contributes to:

  • anxiety

  • irritability

  • mood swings

  • brain fog

  • low motivation

These ingredients help:

  • support testosterone

  • reduce prostate inflammation

  • stabilize hormonal pathways

  • improve energy and drive

When hormones are steady, mood becomes more even

🪨 7. Fills Daily Nutritional Gaps — The Foundation Men Usually Miss

Most men are:

  • low in magnesium

  • low in vitamin D

  • low in B6/B12

  • low in zinc

  • low in antioxidants

  • eating low-quality, low-nutrient foods

  • over-relying on caffeine or stimulants

This formula covers the highest-impact nutrient deficiencies tied to:

  • anxiety

  • restless sleep

  • burnout

  • irritability

  • stress intolerance

  • low mental resilience

It acts as a baseline foundation so deeper interventions (like therapy, amino acids, adaptogens, or lifestyle changes) work better.

🔥 8. Why This Helps Anxiety Specifically

This formula supports anxiety by targeting the physiological root causes:

✔️ Stabilizes neurotransmitter production (B vitamins, amino acids)

✔️ Supports adrenal glands (vitamin C, B5, minerals)

✔️ Reduces inflammation (superfoods)

✔️ Improves sleep quality (magnesium + amino acids)

✔️ Supports testosterone and hormone balance

✔️ Strengthens thyroid function (selenium + iodine)

✔️ Reduces blood sugar swings (amino acids + minerals)

Anxiety often shows up when the body is depleted. This supplement helps rebuild the baseline nutritional foundation the nervous system needs to stay balanced.

This is not particularly the cleanest version of magnesium available, but one we've used.

🌿 How This Magnesium Blend Helps Address Anxiety

This supplement delivers 420 mg of highly absorbable magnesium using a blend of five different forms — each chosen for specific benefits. Magnesium is one of the most powerful minerals for calming the nervous system, and most people are significantly deficient due to stress, diet, caffeine, and modern soil depletion.

This formula is designed to replenish magnesium stores deeply, improve nervous system regulation, and support both the brain and body in reducing anxiety.

🧠 1. Supports Calm by Regulating the Nervous System

Magnesium acts as a natural relaxer for the body and brain.

It improves:

  • GABA activity (the brain’s main calming neurotransmitter)

  • nerve signaling

  • mood regulation

  • emotional resilience

  • soothing the “fight-or-flight” response

Low magnesium = hyperreactive nervous system → irritability, restlessness, tension, racing mind.

Replenishing magnesium helps shift the body toward parasympathetic (rest + regulate) mode instead of survival mode.

💓 2. Helps Reduce Physical Symptoms of Anxiety

Magnesium plays a direct role in relaxing:

  • tight muscles

  • the jaw (clenching)

  • neck/shoulder tension

  • heart palpitations

  • restlessness

  • body-wide tension

Magnesium deficiency often shows up as anxiety you can feel physically — and this blend helps calm those sensations quickly.

😮‍💨 3. Eases Stress by Supporting the Adrenal Glands

Your adrenal glands burn magnesium rapidly when you’re stressed.

This formula helps:

  • regulate cortisol

  • buffer the effects of chronic stress

  • reduce that “wired but tired” feeling

  • support emotional recovery after stressful moments

Many people notice smoother energy and fewer anxiety spikes within days.

🌙 4. Improves Sleep Quality — One of the Biggest Anxiety Reducers

Magnesium supports:

  • falling asleep more easily

  • staying asleep

  • deeper relaxation

  • lower nighttime cortisol

  • fewer racing thoughts at night

When sleep improves, anxiety naturally decreases.

This blend is safe to take at night for added calm.

🍫 5. Includes Multiple Forms for Maximum Absorption

This supplement uses a multi-magnesium blend, which is extremely helpful because different forms support different systems:

✔️ Magnesium Bisglycinate (TRAACS®)

Highly absorbable, gentle, ideal for anxiety + sleep + nervous system support.

✔️ Magnesium Aspartate

Great for energy and mood balance.

✔️ Magnesium Citrate

Supports relaxation + bowel regularity (gut health strongly affects anxiety).

✔️ Magnesium Malate

Supports muscles, energy, and chronic tension.

✔️ Magnesium Oxide (small portion)

Helps maintain bowel movement and overall magnesium balance.

Together, these forms replenish depleted magnesium stores at a deep cellular level, which is essential for reducing anxiety long-term.

🌱 6. Supports Gut Health — Key for Anxiety

Magnesium citrate and bisglycinate help:

  • reduce constipation

  • ease bloating

  • support gut motility

Since ~90% of serotonin is made in the gut, a healthier gut = calmer mind.

Better digestion often improves mood, reduces irritability, and helps regulate the stress response.

🔥 7. Helps Reduce PMS + Hormonal Anxiety

Magnesium is especially powerful for women who experience:

  • anxiety before their period

  • mood swings

  • irritability

  • breast tenderness

  • headaches

It supports progesterone pathways and reduces the nervous system overactivation that happens in the luteal phase.

This is one of the most evidence-backed natural supports for cycle-related anxiety.

8. Why This Formula Works for Anxiety Better Than Single-Form Magnesium

Most magnesium supplements use one form, which targets only one area.

This blend:

  • supports the brain

  • nourishes the gut

  • relaxes the muscles

  • helps with sleep

  • replenishes stress-depleted stores

  • supports calm neurotransmitter production

It hits multiple root causes of anxiety at once.

Summary (simple + effective)

This high-quality magnesium blend helps address anxiety by:

  • calming the nervous system

  • supporting GABA

  • reducing physical tension

  • lowering stress hormones

  • improving sleep

  • supporting the gut-brain axis

  • stabilizing mood

  • rebuilding depleted mineral stores

Most people feel a noticeable difference in:

  • calm

  • sleep

  • stress tolerance

  • mood stability

within the first week.

🌿 How Earthley’s Postpartum Balance Can Help Relieve Anxiety

The postpartum season places enormous demands on the body — hormonally, nutritionally, emotionally, and physically. These shifts can leave many women feeling overwhelmed, depleted, or more anxious than usual.

Earthley’s Postpartum Balance tincture blends nourishing herbs that support hormone regulation, replenish minerals, reduce inflammation, and stabilize the gut–brain connection — all foundational to calming the nervous system.

Here’s how each ingredient works together to bring relief:

1. Turmeric — Reduces Inflammation That Fuels Anxiety

After birth, inflammation often rises due to:

  • hormonal shifts

  • tissue healing

  • sleep disruption

Chronic inflammation can worsen mood and increase anxiety.Turmeric helps by:

  • lowering inflammation

  • offering antioxidant protection

  • supporting emotional steadiness

  • easing physical discomfort that contributes to anxious tension

A calmer body = a calmer mind.

2. Black Pepper — Boosts Turmeric Absorption & Supports Gut Health

Black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin (the active compound in turmeric) by up to 2000%, making the anti-inflammatory and mood benefits more effective.

It also:

  • supports digestion

  • improves microbiome health

Because the gut produces ~90% of serotonin, gut support = better mood regulation.

3. Dandelion Root — Supports Liver Balance & Hormone Detox

Hormone swings are one of the main drivers of postpartum anxiety.

Dandelion root:

  • supports liver detoxification

  • helps process excess estrogen

  • promotes hormonal clarity

  • stabilizes energy and mood

When hormones clear properly, the nervous system becomes much more stable.

4. Alfalfa Leaf — Rich in Vitamins & Minerals for Nervous System Support

Postpartum nutrient depletion is extremely common, especially when breastfeeding.

Alfalfa is packed with:

  • vitamins A, C, E, K

  • B vitamins

  • calcium

  • magnesium

These nutrients help:

  • calm the nervous system

  • steady mood

  • regulate stress hormones

  • rebuild depleted stores

Low minerals = more irritability, tension, and anxiousness.Alfalfa brings those stores back up.

5. Catnip Leaf — Gentle Nervous System Relaxant

Catnip is a traditional herb used for:

  • calming restlessness

  • reducing irritability

  • soothing “wired” feelings

  • promoting gentle relaxation

Perfect for postpartum mothers who feel overstimulated or emotionally “revved up.”
